  • João Paulouro Neves is currently a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon, having received his BSc and MIArq in Architecture, respectively at the Bartlett School, University College London, and Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa. His research centres on the configurational history and theory of urban liminal spaces and socio-spatial division, through a survey of the historical development of gated communities in Lisbon.

    Concurrently, he is developing a platform for crowd-sourced urban network analysis, participating in the Convex and Solid-Voids DCG research project and working on new methods of space syntax, population mapping, and data analysis for urban research.

    He has worked in architecture and urban design offices in Rome, London, and Lisbon, on housing, commercial, and institutional projects, as well as environmental mapping and analysis. He has seen his work exhibited in London, Lisbon and Cascais, and worked with artists and scenographers on interdisciplinary projects at the Cochrane Theatre and the Battersea Arts Centre, as well as producing urban installations and interventions in London.
